Down2Earth Capital sells its stake in VK architects+engineers to Sweco

D2E Capital sells its majority stake in VK architects+engineers to Swedish listed group Sweco. This marks the end of an intense growth and “buy and build” process for D2E in which VK architects+engineers grew into a leading Benelux player.
D2E invested in the VK group in late 2017 in an MBO transaction. VK is a multidisciplinary group active in architecture and engineering. It has a history of 70 years and has become a market leader in Belgium in the healthcare, buildings, industry and infrastructure sectors. In recent years the group has developed strongly in advanced engineering with high added value services such as fire safety engineering, acoustics, façade engineering, simulations, digital engineering, sustainability, etc…..
Over the last 5 years, 7 acquisitions were made, allowing VK architects+engineers to increase its scale in infrastructure and industry and also to develop activities in the Netherlands, Luxembourg and UK. The group realizes a turnover of rounded 70 M euro with more than 600 employees.
In recent years, the group has been involved in several major projects such as the new hospitals for ZNA (Antwerp), UZ Gent, UZ Brussel, CUSL (Woluwe), … Furthermore, various logistics centers, the development Nieuw Zuid (Antwerp), the Winter Circus (Ghent), Gevangenis Haren, the Oosterweel project, Zin project (Brussels), Shape (Mons), KLM (Schiphol), …
