House of Coffee & Down2Earth team up to build an international coffee group

House of Coffee, a group of local Belgian coffee brands, is launching a new growth trajectory through the acquisition of Dutch industry peer Café Salento and a strategic partnership with investment fund Down2Earth Capital III (D2E). With this step, the group aims to become a leading international coffee player in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Under the leadership of CEO Tom Arts and investor Roots Transition Partners, House of Coffee has grown in recent years into a group with two strong local brands: Succes Koffie and ROM. With D2E as a new capital partner, the acquisition of Café Salento has now also been completed, a coffee company with nationwide coverage in the Netherlands. All existing shareholders of House of Coffee remain on board and, together with D2E, commit to building a strong international coffee group through a focused buy-and-build strategy.

Succes Koffie and ROM, founded in 1888 and 1967 respectively, have a long tradition and a broad customer base in both the corporate and hospitality markets. Both companies distinguish themselves through high-quality coffee beans and an excellent level of service. Café Salento originated in Gorredijk and has impressively built nationwide coverage through several branches. Café Salento has a strong footprint in government and healthcare institutions. With the integration of Café Salento, the group grows to more than 4.000 installed coffee machines at customer locations across the Benelux. The group offers a total solution: rental and sale of coffee machines, supply of coffee and related products such as biscuits, milk, sugar and tea, and full technical maintenance of the machines. In 2025, House of Coffee achieved consolidated revenues of approximately €22 million.

CEO Tom Arts looks forward to the next phase of growth: “With D2E as our partner, we aim to build a leading coffee group in Belgium and the Netherlands by bringing together strong brands. In our discussions, we immediately noticed a shared vision and values: transparency, pragmatism and a focus on quality and results. Together, we want to offer customers a distinctive coffee experience.”

Regis De Preter of Down2Earth adds: “From the very first contact, we were convinced by the entrepreneurship and drive of Tom and his team. Their strong commercial approach, high customer retention and diversified customer base form a solid foundation for further growth. With Café Salento, we are adding an established Dutch player with a broad customer footprint and an excellent reputation. The Benelux coffee market is highly fragmented and offers clear consolidation opportunities. We strongly believe in the synergies between the brands and are convinced that together we can build a strong, quality-driven group.”

Lotte Van de Mierop of Roots Transition Partners confirms the strong growth ambitions: “Since our investment in House of Coffee in 2024, our ambition has been to build an international coffee group. We are therefore very pleased that, with the acquisition of Café Salento, we can realise this growth ambition. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the management team and our new partner D2E.”
